Commode or Sideboard? – The Small, Subtle Difference

Sideboard or Commode, the difference is more subtle than expected, but still quite clear. Commodes are exclusively equipped with drawers, while sideboards are a bit more flexible. With the latter, drawers and doors can be combined, or there may only be compartments behind doors.

As a result, they usually present a somewhat more varied appearance, but can also accommodate larger items. Commodes, on the other hand, create a more uniform look due to their even fronts and can therefore have a visually elongating effect. An advantage not to be underestimated, especially in small or narrow rooms.

Sideboards in Trend

In 2016, sideboards that offer discreet fronts are trending. The handles are therefore at least hidden or replaced by a clever push-to-open system.
