Sideboard & Commode Trends 2016: The Hidden Matte Finish Rule
Laundry in the bedroom, bags, scarves and cloths in the hallway, the film collection in the living room – storage space is needed everywhere. For a tidy appearance and protection from dust, it should ideally be closed, but please not bulky or overwhelming. Livarea shows you the sideboard and commode trends for 2016!
Commode or Sideboard? – The Small, Subtle Difference
Sideboard or Commode, the difference is more subtle than expected, but still quite clear. Commodes are exclusively equipped with drawers, while sideboards are a bit more flexible. With the latter, drawers and doors can be combined, or there may only be compartments behind doors.
As a result, they usually present a somewhat more varied appearance, but can also accommodate larger items. Commodes, on the other hand, create a more uniform look due to their even fronts and can therefore have a visually elongating effect. An advantage not to be underestimated, especially in small or narrow rooms.

In 2016, sideboards that offer discreet fronts are trending. The handles are therefore at least hidden or replaced by a clever push-to-open system. The best example of this is the Tactile Sideboard from Punt, which also combines other current sideboard trends. With its light design, it impresses with the popular colour mix of natural wood grain and lacquer, and appears visually airy and almost floating, not least due to its light colouring.

Room styling created by digital staging.Sideboards, such as the Punt Sussex, share this highlight of the furniture season with the popular commode trends: the floating look is in and, like stackable models, is among the trending sideboard styles. When wall-mounted, these pieces allow for unique and individual creations, can optimally utilise available space in a row or staggered, and appear absolutely decorative and a little futuristic.
Chest of Drawers Trends 2016 – What's IN
The highlights among chest of drawers in 2016 are matt lacquered and forgo striking elements. Modern understatement in chest of drawers trends, as with sideboards, also includes hidden or replaced handles and entirely smooth fronts, which guide the eye and can thus visually stretch rooms. Impressive proof of this capability are the Easy chest of drawers from Novamobili, which, as the epitome of puristic design and current chest of drawers trends, are an enrichment for any interior. And can also be wonderfully combined and showcased. These pieces can also impress individually, therefore they cut a fine figure in both large and small rooms and fit into almost any room due to their open style. The chest of drawers are practical too, adaptable and available in numerous sizes.
