The rise of RS Barcelona took place in four stages; it is also the realisation of a dream. An employee of an ironworks dreamt this dream and summoned up the entrepreneurial courage to found his own company in Viladecans, Barcelona, in 1975. He soon had to swap his small workshop for a larger industrial building, where his two sons also found enough space and "came on board" to produce furniture and objects for RS Barcelona...
Furniture in a fun and fresh design
When the second generation joined the family business, a new dimension opened up for RS Barcelona and the second stage began. Fulfilling orders puts food on the table, but is unsatisfactory in the long run. So they got creative themselves and produced their first own branded product - the "RS#2 table football table" made of metal. They made a few mistakes when making other products, but it was the kind of mistake that you learn a lot from. Step by step, RS Barcelona's exciting products - mainly furniture in a fun, unusual and fresh design - conquered the shop windows of internationally renowned trend setter shops. The first small successes followed.
New ideas and concepts for furniture design
The third stage began at the Milan Furniture Fair, where RS Barcelona met the designers from "Stone Designs". RS Barcelona decided to incorporate parts of Stone Designs' designs into the production of its furniture and objects. Since the beginning of this collaboration, RS Barcelona has seen the design of furniture and objects from a completely different perspective. Because of this enrichment, RS Barcelona continues to reach out to both young, unknown and established designers to find new ideas and innovative concepts for the design of new furniture. Designers such as Rafael Rodriguez, Shigeki Fujishiro, Stone Designs, Werner Aisslinger and Matt Gagnon are currently developing furniture for RS Barcelona. They all see themselves as a family that lives for the tongue-in-cheek, surprising or witty and humorous design of their furniture and objects. In addition to furniture and objects, they have also produced other table football tables - simply because they like to play themselves.
RS Barcelona on the fourth stage
The fourth stage is today. The realisation of the dream continues. New ideas for furniture and objects are waiting "around the corner", so to speak, to be discovered and realised by RS Barcelona. If this furniture turns out to be as surprising and witty as the "Burger Armchair", the "Hot Dog Couch" or the "Eiffel Aluminium Stool", which is reminiscent of the construction of the Eiffel Tower, then we can all look forward to new furniture and objects from RS Barcelona.
The design of RS Barcelona's first trademark, the "RS#2 table football table" made of metal, has been extended by a further, witty component. In addition to the choice of colours for the jersey, skin and hair, customers can now also choose whether they want to play with male or female figures. This version of the "RS#2" with female players is the first women's table football machine ever and is called "Ella".
