How to get your garden furniture ready for spring
Dieser Post ist von 15. Jun 2025 by Livarea.
The next spring is definitely coming – is your garden furniture already ready for the season? We reveal the best tips and tricks on how to prepare your outdoor furniture for the upcoming open-air season. With refreshed and spotlessly clean furniture, the first rays of sunshine can't come soon enough, because then it's time to head out into the garden, onto the balcony or the terrace!
Wooden furniture with a fresh and natural appeal
Wooden patio furniture can show cracks or damage even with proper storage. First, subject the furniture to a thorough inspection. If it is lacquered furniture and touch-up work is necessary, the old lacquer must be thoroughly sanded off. Afterwards, remove the sanding dust from the furniture and re-lacquer it. For teak furniture, it is sufficient to treat the furniture with teak oil. On garden furniture made of teak, such as the furniture from the Prostoria Umomoku Outdoor Garden Collection, a silver-grey patina can form over time. Treatment with teak oil prevents this and preserves the beauty of the furniture. Then your Teak Chair for the garden is ready for use again.
Garden furniture: new shine without great effort
Metal garden furniture is very durable. Nevertheless, thorough cleaning is essential when your furniture is brought out of hibernation. Avoid aggressive cleaning agents! Water and neutral soap are sufficient to make stainless steel or aluminium furniture look like new again. For high-quality outdoor furniture, such as furniture from the Oasiq Sandur Stainless Steel Rope Series, use soft microfibre cloths and water – this will achieve optimal results.
No more squeaking and rusting: the right care for moving parts
During the thorough inspection, you may have noticed that your stainless steel furniture is rusting in some places or that hinges and moving parts are squeaking. Garden tables, folding chairs, and parasols are particularly vulnerable. There is a quick remedy for this too. Sand off rusty spots with very fine sandpaper and then treat the material with a rust preventative specifically suitable for metals and stainless steel. All moving parts should be carefully greased. Special lubricating oils are suitable for this, which can be applied precisely with a fine nozzle. For hard-to-reach areas, you can use a spray lubricant. Silicone spray achieves a very good and lasting effect.
If there are screws on the furniture, you should check them for tightness. If anything has loosened over the winter, they can simply be tightened with a suitable screwdriver. Important: if the screws are tightened too much, the mobility of the parts can be lost – so always tighten only "hand-tight" and never with force. After adjusting the screws, it should definitely be checked whether all parts can still move easily and without grinding.
Hygienic and clean upholstery
The covers of your outdoor furniture cushions were probably washed before winter storage. Nevertheless, at the beginning of the warm season, it may be necessary for the upholstery to have another refresh. It's simply more comfortable to sit and lie on clean cushions! With high-quality designer garden furniture such as the Prostoria Umomoku Outdoor Sun Lounger, the upholstery is washable and antibacterial
Impeccable cleanliness promises true summer enjoyment – with dedicated care, you preserve the beauty and value retention of your garden furniture and can start the outdoor season carefree!
