If you want to turn your balcony into a place of well-being, there are also a few things to consider regarding furnishing, as you have to make do with limited space. For example, you can save a lot of space with wall-mounted decorative elements like flower pots and wind chimes, as well as folding furniture. However, how you best furnish your balcony also depends on its orientation. Not everyone has hours of sunshine on a south-facing balcony.

Balcony furniture – consider the orientation

A south-facing balcony guarantees the most hours of sunshine, which you can best spend in a comfortable sun lounger, provided there is enough space on the balcony. A comfortable chair also makes suitable furniture for a sunny spot and is also easy to care for. Ideally, choose wooden furniture for a south-facing balcony. Why? Here they dry faster than on a north-facing balcony, which is in the shade most of the time.

A north-facing balcony is not for sun worshippers. However, an outdoor seating area here offers welcome cooling, especially on very hot summer days. If you are buying seating for a north-facing balcony, you should consider that the furniture will be in the shade for most of the time and will receive little sunlight. Here, the seating and material must meet the highest demands, which applies, for example, to teak furniture, which is particularly weather-resistant.

A west-facing balcony is ideal for working people, as it only gets sun in the second half of the day. Here you can still enjoy the sun in super comfortable lounge garden furniture even after work. You can catch the first hours of sunshine of the day on an east-facing balcony. If you want to have breakfast here, you should consider a small table as basic equipment and the matching chairs.
