Hygge is a Moment, Lagom a Way of Life
Dieser Post ist von 26. Apr 2018 by Livarea.
Lagom, this word has been appearing more and more frequently in connection with living style, life, and furnishing for several months now. This trend also comes from Scandinavia, more precisely from Sweden, and means something like: „Not too little, not too much – just right“ – finding just the right balance – and that applies to all aspects of life.
What is Lagom?

Instead of focusing on pure cosiness in furnishing, as with Hygge, Lagom is about the essentials. The home should not appear too clean and cool. It can be comfortable, but with moderation and purpose.

Lagom therefore describes precisely the right mix, the healthy middle ground.
The philosophy of Lagom is just as simple as it is effective: In all aspects of life, never fall into one extreme or the other. The right balance is the goal. Lagom is a way of life.

What makes a home cosy?
This development moves away from extremes, towards a healthy middle ground. Functionality and cosiness should complement each other and not be mutually exclusive. Homes should be neither overcrowded nor minimalist and cool.

The living style aims to create a home for well-being and relaxation. Furniture is therefore practical and comfortable at the same time with simple elegance.

What creates harmony?
Details and calm colours are key; accents through special textiles, small accessories, candles, side tables, wall paint or wallpaper, a great wingback armchair or a special lamp are appreciated, as are furniture made from natural materials – such as a marble side table, a wooden table or chair.

The maxim of interior design according to Lagom is restraint. With as little furniture as possible and only as much decoration as necessary, a relaxed, airy atmosphere is created. Through their simple, linear forms, plenty of wood and white, they provide the perfect combination of modern style and a generous portion of cosiness.

When selecting furniture, quality clearly takes precedence over quantity. Natural materials are preferred; wool, marble, and wood are at the forefront. Furniture shines primarily through its functionality and simultaneously with its clear, linear design.
