In the bedroom, two things are paramount: comfort and aesthetics. Comfortable furniture and stylish details create a space for well-being. But what specific design options are there? In this article, you'll find 14 inspirations for a modern bedroom.
1. Choose furniture with a light aesthetic
Bedroom furniture with a light aesthetic creates a carefree ambience. Various design features can support such an appearance, for example, a slender frame and delicate feet, as seen in the Novamobili Upholstered Bed Velvet.
Thanks to its handleless fronts, the Novamobili Bedside Table Easy 2 also conveys pure lightness. The same applies to the Novamobili Wardrobe Perry, whose doors are also made of transparent glass, further enhancing the airy character of the bedroom furnishings.
2. Design your bedroom in brown and grey
Brown is more on-trend than ever in 2025, not least because the Pantone Colour of the Year – Mocha Mousse – is also a shade of brown. Grey has also been one of the most popular fashion and interior colours for quite some time.
Combined, brown and grey tones bring modern elegance and natural charm into the bedroom. The dark brown Bed Bend harmonises perfectly with the striking dark grey Side Table Allout, which can be used as a bedside cabinet.
Stylish storage space for clothes, bedding, and more is provided by the curved Corner Wardrobe Alfa Curvo in dark grey and/or the transparent Wardrobe Perry with a dark grey or black lacquered carcass. All furniture is from Novamobili.
3. Prefer light colours
Furnished in light colours, the bedroom creates a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Furthermore, brightness visually gives the room more size, which is particularly advantageous in small spaces.
However, it doesn't always have to be purist white. Wall design and furniture in elegant beige are just as suitable and often radiate more warmth and cosiness in comparison.
There are several shades of beige: whether in a greyish nuance like the Novamobili Bed Bend and the handleless Chest of Drawers Easy 3 from the same manufacturer, with yellowish accents, or as a pale sand-fawn brown – the spectrum is wide.
4. Combine comfort and extravagance
Comfortable furniture with an extravagant touch transforms the bedroom into a luxurious oasis of well-being. An example in this category is the Novamobili Upholstered Bed Hide, which stands out with its robust frame and, above all, its specially designed upholstered headboard that 'protects' the sleeper.
With its curvy, rounded design language, the Novamobili Corner Wardrobe Alfa Curvo practically winds its way through the bedroom and catches the eye. Alternatively or additionally, the Novamobili Wardrobe Perry with its transparent glass doors also embodies extravagant minimalism.
Additional storage space is offered by the Novamobili Wall-Mounted Chest of Drawers Easy 2, which, if the rest of the furnishings are subtly coloured, can serve as a modern splash of colour, for example, in a vibrant orange tone. Those who have the opportunity can complete their wellness bedroom with a whirlpool.
5. Utilise reflective surfaces
Reflective surfaces create a sense of enlarged space. The effect is particularly impressive with full-length mirrored doors. It can also be achieved a little more subtly with glossy lacquered glass doors, such as those found on the Novamobili Wardrobe Crystal.
The glass hinged doors of the wardrobe are lacquered from behind. This detail gives them their reflective sheen. With a floor mirror on a chest of drawers like the elegant Atena model from Livitalia, the bedroom gains even more visual depth.
6. Focus on a comfortable upholstered bed

No question: the bed is the most important furnishing element for the bedroom. Accordingly, it deserves special attention. If desired, it can be placed at the centre, both spatially and in terms of design.
This requires a striking design. The Upholstered Bed Hide from Novamobili is suitable, particularly catching the eye with its unusually shaped upholstered headboard.
The headboard symbolises the intimate, protective character generally attributed to a bed. The striking, fully fabric-covered frame also contributes to the comfortable appearance of the Hide model.
7. Install a walk-in wardrobe

A walk-in wardrobe like the Break model from Novamobili comes with numerous advantages: it ensures easy organisation and perfect overview. Furthermore, it provides better air circulation, which is beneficial for the freshness and quality of clothing.
In addition to these functional aspects, optical advantages should also be mentioned: with its minimalist, open design, the Break wardrobe functions as a stylish design element and, together with the Novamobili Upholstered Bed Margot, creates an airy, light room feeling.
8. Embrace aesthetic minimalism

Minimalism makes life more beautiful – and often the interior design too. The trend is no coincidence: minimalist bedroom furniture like the Bed Velvet and the Wardrobe Perry from Novamobili are aesthetically pleasing.
While the bed embodies minimalism through its slender frame and thin metal feet, the wardrobe does so thanks to its transparent glass doors. Both elements impress with their invitingly open aesthetic.
9. Create light-dark contrasts

We have already discussed the characteristics of a light interior above; however, one of the best ideas for a modern bedroom is also to add dark accents in a brightly lit room – and vice versa.
Light-dark contrasts create more depth and offer different visual stimuli. The bedroom immediately looks much more interesting if, for example, it features the Bed Velvet in white and the Side Table Allout in black.
Storage furniture such as the extraordinary Corner Wardrobe Alfa Curvo and the transparent Wardrobe Perry can, in turn, be complemented in either white or black, depending on whether the bedroom should be designed to be rather light or dark.
10. Furnish your bedroom in Japandi style
In the trendy Japandi style, Japanese and Scandinavian interior design cultures merge into a harmonious whole. It is primarily characterised by minimalist designs and the use of natural materials.
A high comfort factor is paramount. Here and there, solitary statement details are allowed to stand out, as is the case, for example, with the headboard of the Japanese-inspired Novamobili Bed Mizos with its curved lines.
To ensure this feature receives maximum attention, it is advisable to pair the bed with a subtly designed bedside cabinet, such as the linear and handleless Novamobili Easy 2 model, which fits into any modern bedroom.
11. Mix different materials

Playing with different materials is worthwhile. A successful mix of wood, fabric, and glass creates an exciting, multifaceted ambience in the bedroom that delights visually, haptically, and atmospherically.
For example, the Bedside Table Giotto, veneered in high-quality oak wood, can be combined with the fabric-covered Upholstered Bed Belleville and the glass Wardrobe Layer, all from Novamobili.
The wood of the bedside cabinet brings a natural, warm flair into the bedroom. The linen-polyester cover of the bed embodies softness and cosiness at its finest. And the glass doors of the wardrobe attest to quality and elegance.
12. Ensure order and precision

What might sound a little abstract at first is fundamentally simple: in no living space is a calm, relaxation-promoting environment more important than in the bedroom. Therefore, we recommend ensuring order and precision when furnishing – and this starts with the selection of furniture.
Indeed, there are furnishing elements that represent precisely these qualities. An example of this is the Novamobili Bed Neo, whose solid wood legs are set at a 45-degree angle to the also wooden bed frame. This detail gives the sleeping furniture its tidy character.
The Novamobili Wardrobe Vico is an ideal complement. With its simple linearity, it unobtrusively integrates into the bedroom, creating plenty of storage space for clothes, bedding, towels, and more. If desired, it can even be equipped with a practical space-saving desk.
13. Integrate a bed with a floating effect
A bed with a floating effect, like the Decor model from Livitalia, makes a real visual statement and also has a positive effect on the mood. With its inwardly recessed feet beneath the elegant headboard and its slender frame, it conveys a lightness into which one gladly sinks.
The Novamobili Bedside Table Easy 2 also appears pleasantly light – not just in name, but primarily due to its handleless fronts. The square bedside cabinet features two drawers with automatic soft-close mechanisms, ensuring they close gently and quietly.
14. Harmonise furnishing elements

To furnish a thoroughly stylish and cosy bedroom, it's not enough to simply place any appealingly designed furniture. It's important that these are visually coordinated and harmoniously arranged in the room.
In principle, we advise you to choose two to a maximum of three colour families that complement each other. These could be white, grey, and black, for example. But white with one or two pastel shades is also a successful combination.
Furthermore, the furniture should be designed in the same or at least similar styles – meaning they should share identical basic characteristics. For example, the Japanese and Scandinavian styles share a minimalist approach.
When placing furniture in the bedroom, symmetry is the magic word. Ensure that the bedside cabinets on the left and right have the same distance from the bed, and also distribute wardrobes and chests of drawers evenly throughout the room.
Conclusion
Our 14 diverse ideas cover a variety of ways to furnish your bedroom in a modern style. Furniture details that contribute to a light aesthetic are particularly attractive, such as slender frames, delicate feet, and handleless fronts.
Stylistically, everything from minimalist to extravagant, or a mix of both, is conceivable and visually as well as atmospherically convincing. There is also nothing against combining several materials and colours, as long as they harmonise with each other.
