Why is there often chaos in the wardrobe?

Organising Your Wardrobe: Tips for More Order and Efficiency
Every year, we retrieve warm winter clothes from the cellar to keep them readily accessible in the wardrobe. However, wardrobe organisation is often not ideal, and clothes pile up into unwieldy towers. In this week's furniture trend post, we show you what to look out for when choosing a wardrobe.
Why is there often chaos in my wardrobe?
A messy wardrobe often results from inadequate internal partitioning and a large number of clothing items. Many wardrobes only feature simple shelves with fixed spacing. Due to the often large gaps, people tend to stack all sorts of items on top of each other. If you need an item of clothing located at the bottom of a stack, you often pull out not only the desired item but others too. A wardrobe with only shelves is therefore the best guarantee for chaos.
How do you bring order to the wardrobe?
To efficiently organise your wardrobe, you should follow these steps:
- Categorise clothes: Sort your wardrobe by categories such as shirts, trousers, jumpers, and accessories. This makes it easier to get an overview and find individual items.
- Use suitable storage solutions: Use boxes or drawer inserts for smaller items like underwear or socks. Special hooks or pull-out compartments are suitable for belts and scarves.
- Install hanging rails: Replace some shelves with additional hanging rails. Hanging clothes remain wrinkle-free and are more easily accessible. Make sure to adjust the height of the rails to the length of the clothing items.
- Fold clothes efficiently: T-shirts can be rolled to save space and prevent creasing. Jumpers can also be folded compactly.
Accessories that you don't use as frequently can be stored in stylish boxes.

Shirts and blouses are usually hung, so why not jumpers, sweatshirts, or T-shirts too? Buy additional hanging rails and replace some shelves. Opt for a wardrobe with fewer shelves and think about your clothing. Hung items are always easy to access and remain wrinkle-free. When installing new hanging rails, make sure not to waste too much space above and below. Divide the new areas according to the length of the different clothing items.

What should I look for in a new wardrobe?
When choosing a new wardrobe, you should consider the following aspects:
- Sturdy shelves: Make sure the shelves are not too thin. With a thickness of 3 cm or more, you have nothing to worry about.
- High-quality surfaces: A rough, textured surface is always an advantage. It not only feels more premium but also looks scratch-free even after years of use.
- Flexible interior fittings: Many manufacturers offer suitable wardrobe interior fittings for their respective models. A large bedroom wardrobe can have many shelves but still provide space for enough hanging rails.

Hinged Doors or Sliding Doors – Which are Better?
The most common questions when buying a wardrobe concern the types of doors and their advantages. A designer hinged-door wardrobe, e.g., in grey and tall, offers the most diverse partitioning options due to its relatively narrow doors. For example, areas can be divided by women's, men's, leisure, business, and household items. Installation under a sloped ceiling is also easily possible thanks to the doors, which are simple to work with.

If, on the other hand, you have less space in the bedroom because the bed is very close to the wardrobe, a designer sliding-door wardrobe – in anthracite or white – is best. Thanks to the floating doors, no additional space is required for the opening angle. Furthermore, significantly larger doors can be installed, which provide a larger interior.
